The GE Fanuc IC697CPM915 is a single-slot programmable CPU module, configurable via Windows or MS-DOS-based software to control material handling systems, industrial machinery, and production processes.

Programming of the CPU can be executed either via Ethernet or through the SNP port. Notably, Ethernet-based programmer connections mandate the installation of an optional Ethernet module. For communication with option modules and I/O devices, the IC697CPM915 leverages the rack backplane, adhering to the VME C.1 standard protocol. This module is fully compatible with the IC697CHS750, IC697CHS782, IC697CHS783, IC697CHS790, and IC697CHS791 rack models, with a strict installation requirement: it must be mounted exclusively in Slot 1 of the rack.

Module operation is governed by two means: the local RUN/STOP switch on the CPU, or remote control via a programmer connected to the module’s RS-422/RS-485 serial port.

Equipped with four green status LEDs, the IC697CPM915 provides intuitive visual indication of CPU operational status. As a 32 MHz processor with floating-point computation capability, the module features 1 MB of user memory, backed up by an on-board lithium battery. When the PLC rack is powered off, the battery ensures nominal memory retention for up to 6 months. System firmware is stored in non-volatile flash memory.

Engineered specifically for GE Fanuc Series 60–70 PLC systems, the IC697CPM915 draws a nominal current of 2.8 Amps from the 5 V DC power bus. Compatible option modules include the full range of IC697 LAN modules, a diverse selection of coprocessor modules, and bus controllers supporting the IC660, IC661 I/O lines, as well as analog and discrete I/O modules within the IC697 product family.
