Safety Precautions

Always disconnect the negative terminal of the low-voltage battery before operation to prevent short circuits or fault codes during harness handling. The door handle assembly integrates a keyless entry sensor module. Disconnect power before unplugging any connectors.

Removing the Old Door Handle

Step 1: Remove the Door Interior Panel

The door panel has three screws to remove. The first is located inside the inner handle cover. Pry open the cover from the edge without leather covering using a flathead screwdriver, then remove with a T-30 Torx bit. The second is inside the hidden small cover on the right edge of the panel. Pry it open with a flathead screwdriver and remove with a T-20 Torx bit. The third is located at the bottom of the panel, requiring you to crouch down to find it. Remove it slowly with a T-20 Torx bit.

After removing all three screws, pry from the edge gap between the door panel and door body with a flathead screwdriver to separate the plastic clips one by one. The rear door panel typically has 6 plastic clips, while the front door may differ slightly. Grip both left and right edges of the panel with your hands and pull outward with even force to separate the panel from the door body.

Step 2: Disconnect Wiring Connectors

After separating the panel, support the door panel with one hand and disconnect the internal wiring connectors with the other. The rear door panel typically has three connectors: the window switch connector, speaker connector, and welcome light connector (if equipped). Press the locking tab before pulling out each connector smoothly.

Step 3: Remove the Exterior Handle Plastic Plug

Locate the plastic plug covering the exterior handle retaining screw on the side of the door (corresponding to the door lock position). Gently pry it open from the edge with a flathead screwdriver. Be especially careful during this operation, as the plastic plug is tight and can easily cut your hands. Wearing gloves is recommended.

Step 4: Loosen the Exterior Handle Retaining Screw

After removing the plastic plug, a retaining screw is visible inside. Loosen it with a T-30 Torx bit or corresponding socket. Note: This screw is a captive design—it will not fall out completely after loosening. Simply loosen it.

Step 5: Remove the Exterior Handle Assembly

Critical Step: Shift first, then pull out. After loosening the screw, shift the door handle toward the rear of the vehicle, then pull it outward. Do NOT pull outward directly. If you pull outward first, the small clip inside the handle will jam in the slot, making it impossible to remove.

Step 6: Disconnect the Exterior Handle Sensor Wiring

The exterior handle assembly has a keyless entry sensor harness connected internally, with the connector located at the handle base. This connector cannot be unplugged directly from the outside. The following steps are required:

Method 1 (Recommended): Remove the window regulator. Lower the window glass to the position where two service holes are exposed. Use two screwdrivers to simultaneously push the glass retaining clips backward while lifting the glass upward to detach it from the regulator. Then remove the window regulator mounting screws (including the perimeter screws and two retaining screws). After removing the regulator bracket, the exterior handle sensor connector can be unplugged from the inside.

Method 2 (Alternative): Disassemble the exterior handle assembly, remove the sensor module, then unplug the connector from the inside.

Installing the New Door Handle

Step 7: Connect Sensor Wiring and Install Exterior Handle

Connect the new exterior handle assembly‘s sensor connector to the base interface, ensuring the locking tab engages fully. Then align the exterior handle with the mounting position, shift it forward (toward the front of the vehicle) first, then press the rear portion of the handle to snap it into the base.

Step 8: Tighten the Exterior Handle Screw

Tighten the exterior handle retaining screw with a T-30 Torx bit. Then press the plastic plug back into place, ensuring it is fully seated in the slot.

Step 9: Reinstall the Door Interior Panel

Align the door panel with the door clips and press evenly with your palm until you hear a “click,” indicating proper seating. Then tighten the three retaining screws (T-30 and T-20 Torx bits), and reinstall the inner handle cover and hidden small covers.

Step 10: Function Test

Restore vehicle power and test the following functions in sequence: exterior handle door open/close (mechanical function), keyless entry sensor unlock (touch the handle sensor area), central locking open/close, window operation, and speaker output.

Important Notes

Shift before pulling is the core principle: When removing the exterior handle, you must first shift it toward the rear of the vehicle, then pull it outward. Pulling outward directly will cause the internal clip to jam, making removal impossible.

Be careful with the plastic plug: The plug is tight with sharp edges and can easily cut your fingers during removal. Wearing gloves is recommended.

Sensor connector location is special: The exterior handle sensor connector cannot be accessed directly from the outside. It typically requires removing the window regulator to unplug from the inside.
