Industrial D-Subminiature Connectors
The D-subminiature is a highly popular connector style within the
I/O category, widely utilized across various industries including
computer, telecom, datacom, medical, and test instrumentation, as
well as in military and aerospace applications. Cinch offers a
diverse range of D-subminiature connectors designed for different
mounting and termination needs.
Types of D-subminiature connectors manufactured by Cinch:
- Printed Circuit Board connectors: Vertical connectors for panel mounting with Dip Solder PC tails,
and Right-Angle connectors for board mounting with Dip Solder PC
tails.
- Connectors for cable assemblies or wire harnesses: Crimp and Poke, Solder Cup, Insulation Displacement (IDC) for
discrete wire termination, and Wire Wrap.
General Information: All connectors are intermateable with comparable Cinch
D-subminiature connectors or other manufacturers' D-sub connectors
dimensionally complying with MIL-C-24308. Solder terminations and
boardlocks meet MIL-STD-202, Method 208 solderability requirements.
Contacts are typically offered in Gold Flash or 30in. gold plating
for commercial products, and 50in. gold plating for M24308 Series
Military connectors. Standard density connectors use size 20
contacts. Metal shells for commercial grades are usually zinc or
tin plated, while military grade shells are typically steel cadmium
plated. Insulator materials include glass-filled polyester, nylon,
and diallyl phthalate. Connectors are available in plugs and
sockets in 9, 15, 25, 37, and 50 position sizes.
Approvals: Most Cinch connectors have UL recognition and CSA approval;
specific approvals are listed on individual catalog pages.
Durability: Mated connectors are subjected to specified insertion/withdrawal
cycles, after which they must meet Cinch requirements for
insertion/withdrawal force and contact resistance.
