Product Overview

The PL2303GC is a single-chip USB to Full UART IC with GPIO, designed to provide a seamless interface between USB and asynchronous serial data. It is fully compliant with the USB 2.0 specification and offers royalty-free Virtual COM Port (VCP) drivers for various operating systems including Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. Key features include integrated termination resistors, pull-up resistors, and a configurable OTPROM for device descriptors and GPIO settings. The IC supports bus-power, self-power, and high-power USB device configurations, along with VBUS input detection and 3.3V VBUS voltage operation. The versatile GPIO interface provides 16 configurable I/O pins with adjustable output driving strength. The UART interface supports RS232, RS422, and RS485, with flexible baud rates up to 12Mbps and various data bit, parity, and stop bit configurations. Hardware and software flow control are supported, along with a configurable remote wakeup pin. The device includes 1024-byte bi-directional data FIFO buffers and configurable transmit/receive LED pins. Additionally, it supports Battery Charger (BC 1.2) Detection for fast charging and features an integrated precise clock generator, Power-on-Reset (POR) circuit, and a 5V to 3.3V LDO regulator. The PL2303GC operates over a wide temperature range and is available in 28-pin SSOP and 24-pin UQFN packages, with the SSOP package being pin-compatible with the PL2303HXD chip.
