7GHz WR-112 WAVEGUIDE DUPLEXER
A WAVEGUIDE DUPLEXER is a three‑port microwave component that allows a single antenna to
be shared between a transmitter and a receiver, while providing
isolation between them.
A WAVEGUIDE DUPLEXER typically consists of two band‑pass filters (or one band‑pass and
one band‑reject filter) connected to a common junction, often using
a WAVEGUIDE MAGIC T or a circulator‑based architecture.
A WAVEGUIDE DUPLEXER separates transmit and receive signals based on frequency: the
transmit channel passes the transmitter frequency (Tx) to the
antenna, while the receive channel passes the receiver frequency
(Rx) from the antenna.
A WAVEGUIDE DUPLEXER provides high isolation between the transmitter and receiver ports,
preventing the high‑power transmit signal from damaging the
sensitive receiver front‑end.
In a circulator‑based WAVEGUIDE DUPLEXER, the device uses a WAVEGUIDE CIRCULATOR with two band‑pass filters attached to two ports—the circulator
directs Tx energy to the antenna and Rx energy from the antenna to
the receiver.
In a filter‑based WAVEGUIDE DUPLEXER (using a magic T or T‑junction), the Tx and Rx signals are
separated by frequency‑selective filters; the Tx filter passes only
the Tx band to the antenna, and the Rx filter passes only the Rx
band from the antenna.
A WAVEGUIDE DUPLEXER relies on the fact that the transmit and receive frequencies are
sufficiently separated (frequency division duplexing) so that the
filters can effectively discriminate between them.
A WAVEGUIDE DUPLEXER also includes a WAVEGUIDE LOAD or matched termination at the isolated port (when using a
circulator) to absorb any leaked or reflected energy.
A WAVEGUIDE DUPLEXER ensures that the antenna is simultaneously connected to both Tx and
Rx paths without mutual interference—an essential function for
full‑duplex radar and communication systems.
