En Masse Scraper Conveyor

Product Overview

An en masse scraper conveyor is a closed-type bulk material conveyor that moves material inside a rectangular trough using a drop-forged chain with scraper flights. Material travels as a continuous bed — pushed forward in the "en masse" flow — hence the term en masse conveyor or scraper chain conveyor.

Compared with open belt conveyors, the fully enclosed trough keeps material contained throughout the transfer path, making this unit suitable for wastewater sludge, sand-washing slurry, ash, and coal powder where dust control or hygiene is required.

Construction

Trough Housing

• Enclosed rectangular trough, built in bolted flange sections; overall length is sectioned for factory fabrication and field assembly
• Side plate 6 mm thick, bottom plate 8 mm thick in wear-resistant plate to extend wear-part replacement intervals
• Surface rust-removed and paint-baked for humid plant environments

Chain and Flight Assembly

• Drop-forged chain, 200 mm pitch, with scraper flights moving the material bed through the trough
• Head shaft houses the drive unit; tail shaft is fitted with a screw tensioner to compensate for chain elongation

Applications

Municipal and Industrial Wastewater Treatment

Dewatered sludge cake discharged from belt filter presses, plate-and-frame filter presses, or centrifuges is conveyed by the scraper chain conveyor into a sludge hopper or sludge truck. The enclosed trough prevents sludge dripping and odor release; the 45° inclined model lifts sludge from a lower floor elevation to an upper-floor hopper.

Sand Washing and Slurry Handling

Tail slurry from sand-washing lines is collected by a horizontal scraper conveyor before entering filter press dewatering. The wear-resistant bottom plate suits long-term abrasion from sand-laden material.

Ash and Powder Conveying

Ash from power plants, boiler houses, or industrial furnaces, as well as coal powder, can be conveyed in a closed trough, reducing dust in the workshop and improving working conditions.

Centralized Sludge Disposal and Resource Recovery

At the front end of sludge drying, incineration, or building-material recycling projects, the scraper conveyor acts as a buffering and transfer stage between dewatering equipment and downstream drying/incineration units. Conveying length and angle are customized to the process layout.

Sizing and Layout Notes

• Angle vs. capacity: Horizontal arrangement yields higher throughput (the MS315 horizontal unit at 16 t/h); at 45° incline the same trough width delivers roughly 8 t/h. Motor power and chain strength must be recalculated for the required lift height
• Material properties: Sticky, wet sludge requires a replaceable wear-resistant trough liner and regular inspection of flights and chain wear
• Custom interfaces: Inlet and discharge positions and dimensions are matched to upstream dewatering equipment outlets, downstream hoppers, or transfer-point elevations
