Plastic And Foam Horizontal/Vertical Burning Tester
Product Introduce
UL94 horizontal/vertical burning tester is a kind of testing
equipment specially used to evaluate the flame retardant properties
of plastics and foam materials. It is widely used in electronic and
electrical, household appliances, automotive parts, building
materials and other industries. The tester classifies the
combustion characteristics of materials according to the UL94
standard, including horizontal combustion (HB), vertical combustion
(V0-V2), harsh environment combustion (5VA/5VB), etc. It is also
suitable for special tests of foam materials (HF1-HF2) and film
materials (VTM0-VTM2).
The equipment not only complies with the US UL94 standard system,
but also is compatible with many international standards, such as
IEC 60695-11-10 (fire hazard test), ISO 9772/9773 (foam and thin
material combustion test), ASTM D635/D4804 (plastic and foam
combustion performance test), etc. In addition, it is also
applicable to regional standards such as German DIN 695 and VDE
0471 to ensure the global recognition of test results.
The UL94 combustion tester is suitable for solid materials with a
thickness of 0.1~13mm, and the test sample is usually a standard
specification of 125mm×13mm×3mm. By precisely controlling
parameters such as flame height and burning time, the equipment can
accurately evaluate the flame retardancy level of the material and
provide key data support for product safety certification (such as
UL, CE, IEC, etc.).

Note: The special test standard for foam materials is the HF1-HF2
classification in UL94, and thin materials are applicable to the
VTM0-VTM2 test method. The design of the test instrument must meet
the requirements of UL94, IEC and ASTM for parameters such as
combustion box structure and flame height control.

Note: The test object is usually a solid material with a thickness
of 0.1-13mm, and the sample size must meet standard specifications

Main features of the instrument:

Main performance parameters:
1 Combustion box:
1.1 Box: Volume ≥ 0.5m3, processed by CNC machine tools, with
beautiful arc shape. High-quality steel plate electrostatically
sprayed with high-temperature paint, with beautiful anti-rust and
anti-corrosion characteristics;
1.2 A strong exhaust system is installed on the top of the box, and
the exhaust gas is discharged to the outside when the test is
completed; during the test, this system is stopped;
1.3 The front of the box is equipped with a tempered glass
observation window that can be sealed during the test, which is
convenient for observing the test situation.
2 Burning torch:
2.1 The burning power of the Bunsen burner is 50W, which meets the
requirements of IEC 60695-11-4:2004 flame A, B or C and
ISO10093:1998P/PF2;
2.2 The inner diameter of the flame nozzle: Ф9.5±0.1mm, the steam
nozzle: Ф0.9±0.03mm, and the height of the nozzle from the air
inlet is 100±10mm;
2.3 The angle of the torch: 45 degrees for horizontal method and 90
degrees for vertical method;
2.4 The flame height: 15mm~45mm can be adjusted at will;
2.5 Gas: methane gas, purity not less than 98%.
3 Temperature measurement system:
3.1 Copper block: diameter: Ф5.5±0.01mm, mass 1.76g±0.01g;
3.2 K-type thermocouple, armored thermocouple with wire diameter of
0.5mm, suitable for measuring temperature above 1050°C. Meet the
requirements of GB/T16839-1997 standard;
3.3 Handheld thermometer matches K-type thermocouple. Its reading
can be greater than 1000℃;
3.4 The whole test system is: movable, placed in the test box for
temperature measurement;
3.5 Equipped with electronic stopwatch: accurate to 0.1S (standby
during temperature measurement calibration).
4 Gas control:
4.1 Flowmeter: glass rotor flowmeter, flow range: 0~160mL/min
adjustable;
4.2 Pressure gauge: suitable for pressure measurement in the range
of 0~7.5kpa;
4.3 Regulating valve: adjust gas flow.
Sample fixture:
1 Test bracket: Made of stainless steel, divided into horizontal
bracket and vertical bracket. There is a wire mesh under the
horizontal bracket. The wire mesh is made of steel wire with a
diameter of 0.40mm. The mesh is made of 20 holes per 25mm. The
vertical bracket is parallel to the plane where the blowtorch is
located and the plane of the observation window, which is
convenient for observation and operation.
2 Maximum clamping thickness of the sample clamp: ≤13mm
3 Vertical adjustment distance of the sample clamp: ≤100mm;
4 Horizontal adjustment distance of the sample clamp: ≤70mm;
