Difference for LiNiCoMnO2 and Lifepo4 battery:
1. Energy density and endurance:
LiNiCoMnO2 battery: The energy density is relatively high, usually between
250~300Wh/kg, which means that in the same volume, the ternary
lithium battery can store more electricity, so the endurance is
stronger, suitable for long-distance driving or scenes with high
endurance requirements.
LiFePO4 battery: The energy density is relatively low, generally
between 160~190Wh/kg, and the endurance is slightly inferior to
that of ternary lithium batteries, which is more suitable for urban
travel or short-distance use.
2. Safety:
LiFePO4 battery: High safety, good thermal stability, even at high temperature or
extreme conditions (such as needle puncture test), it is not easy
to have thermal runaway, and the risk of fire or explosion is low.
LiNiCoMnO2 battery: The safety is relatively low, especially under high temperature
or overcharge conditions, there may be a risk of thermal runaway.
In recent years, some new energy vehicle fire accidents are mostly
related to ternary lithium batteries.
3. Cycle life and cost:
LiFePO4 battery: The cycle life is relatively long, the number of charge and
discharge cycles can reach 3000~5000 times, the service life can
reach 6~10 years, and the material cost is low, and the
manufacturing cost is relatively low, so the overall cost is low.
LiNiCoMnO2 battery: The cycle life is relatively short, the number of charge and
discharge cycles is about 1500~2000 times, the service life is
about 5~8 years, and because the positive electrode material
contains precious metals such as nickel and cobalt, the process is
complicated and the cost is high.
4. Low temperature performance:
Ternary lithium battery: The low temperature performance is good,
and it can still maintain a high endurance in cold environments.
Lithium iron battery: The low temperature performance is poor,
and the battery decays significantly in winter, affecting the user
experience.
In summary, if you have high requirements for battery life, are
willing to bear higher costs, and do not have extreme safety
requirements, ternary lithium batteries are a better choice. If you
value safety, cost-effectiveness and durability more, and mainly
use it in cities or short distances, lithium iron phosphate
batteries are more suitable for you. When actually purchasing, you
