The CHAMP Packer is a kind of mechanial setting retrievable packer used in oilfield for various downhole operations. The CHAMP Packer is designed with a concentric bypass in high working pressure up to 15000psi.

The CHAMP Packer consist of a J-slot mechanism, mechanical slips, packer elements, hydraulic slips, and a bypass. Round, piston-like slips used in the hydraulic hold down mechanism prevent the tool from being pumped up the hole. The J-slot enables the packer to be run in the casing, set, and unset without applying any rotation to the workstring.

The CHAMP packer is well suited to tubing conveyed perforating applications where the firing head assembly is easily incorporated into the CHAMP packer.The CHAMP packer is ideally suited for horizontal applications due to its limited rotational requirements and integrated bypass.Just a quarter-turn is required,at the tool,to set the packer and close the circulating valve.A straight upward pull opens the circulating valve and unseats the packer.
