Fibocom FG100 5G Module based on Intel XMM 8160 5G modem

Fibocom FG100 is Fibocom first 5G module based on Intel XMM 8160 5G modem and offers a “One World One SKU” solution to enable 5G globally with a standardized M.2 form factor. Fibocom FG100 is a multi-mode 5G module that includes EN-DC (LTE+5G), 5GNR-FDD/TDD, LTE-FDD/TDD and 3G WCDMA, supports 5G Sub-6 GHz internally, and supports mmW through an external antenna module. It allows blazing download speeds of up 6Gbps on mmW and 4Gbps on Sub-6 GHz. The improved and uniform data rates in bandwidth enable cloud-connected, immersive experiences of mobile broadband such as Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality.

Fibocom FG100's One-World-One-SKU multi-mode, global band support, compliant to both NSA and SA networks, offers a similar architecture and identical interface to its 4G predecessor, and commercially available L860, with Intel XMM 7560 Gigabit LTE modem. Both offer PCIe interface (Gen4 for FG100), MIPI and GPIO antenna ports, standard M.2 form factor with global bands, to allow for a 5G ready platform on the proven 4G LTE network, significantly improving time to market on 5G vertical solutions such as computing devices, fixed wireless access, and gateways. The improved and uniform datarates in bandwidth enable cloud-connected, immersive experiences ofmobile broadband such as Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality.

Fibocom FG100 will support 2x2 MIMO, 4x2 MIMO, and 4x4 MIMO modes for download, but only 2x2 MIMO for upload. The 4x4 MIMO download mode will only be applicable on bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 25, 30, 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 48, 66, n77, n78, n79. The unit also integrates support for GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and Galileo. Drivers will be available for both Windows 10 and Linux. Fibocom FG100 module supports download speeds of 2.4 Gbps LTE, 4 Gbps sub-6, and up to 6 Gbps in mmWave. For upload, the module will support 450 Mbps on LTE, ~2.5 Gbps on sub-6, and ~3.0 Gbps on mmWave.
